Denver-based art photographer Scott Takeda unveils eighteen of his latest pieces this Friday February 1, 2013 from 5-9pm at the Blue Dot Studio. It's located at 209 Kalamath Street in Unit 3, on the southern edge of Denver's Art District on Santa Fe. The show is part of the art district's monthly "First Friday" open house.
"I feel like this is my first mature show as an artist," said Takeda. "My photographic origins are in news photography, so my first show in 2003 included compelling news images, but they weren't images people wanted to hang on their walls. For my second unveiling five years later, I went in the opposite direction – selling commercially scenic images. I sold a lot of prints, but it felt artistically lacking for me. Now, a full-decade after my first show, I feel like I've blended the two, and I'm very excited for people to see this new work. The images are beautiful, and there's a soul to them."
The solo show is titled Scene. Street. Story. with each piece either being scenic, street-based, or connected to story. The collection includes images from Romania, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, New York, New Orleans, and a recent trip to Atlanta. This is also a print-only show. So instead of selling the art hanging on the wall, we'll be taking orders for prints. That keeps the pricing more affordable for you!
